TEST LABORATORY

We have testing laboratories

At SIISA we have a testing laboratory accredited by the Mexican Accreditation Entity, a.c. under the standard: NMX- EC-17025-1MNC-2018 ISO/IEC 17025:2017, which allows us to submit product samples based on production batches to verify that they have the optimal conditions that ensure their quality.

Accredited laboratory for helmet tests NM-0377-047/12.

According to the standards, for each production batch, pieces are selected to which all the tests will be applied.

Prior to testing, helmets must be exposed to extreme temperatures from minus 18°C to 50°C for 4 hours to ensure that they will respond with the same performance.

High impact test

The helmet is subjected to an impact test caused by a steel ball weighing 3,600 grams in free fall at a height of 1,520 millimeters. During the impact there must be no contact between the shell and the suspension, nor should there be a fracture in the shell and the transmitted force must not exceed 454 kg force so that in the event of an accident when receiving an impact of this magnitude, the helmet saved his life.

Withstand electrical voltage test

The same helmet is exposed to the bearable electrical voltage test, where a voltage of 20,000 volts is applied to it for 3 minutes. Subsequently, the electrical tension is increased up to 30,000 volts and the hull must not suffer any perforation. Imagine what a discharge of this magnitude would be like with non-compliant helmets.

Penetration Test

After undergoing the high tension test, the helmet must pass the penetration test which is performed by dropping a steel-tipped projectile weighing 1,000 grams in free fall from a height of more than 3 meters. The depth of the projectile penetration must not exceed 10 mm including the thickness of the hull. In addition, our helmets do not need any type of perforation since their excellent design ensures perfect ventilation by allowing air to circulate around the entire perimeter of the helmet.

Combustion resistance test

The combustion test consists of subjecting the helmet to direct fire at 900°C for 5 seconds. According to the regulations the hull must not be burned or pierced. This test also shows that the helmets are self-extinguishing.





Force Transmission Test

The helmet undergoes an impact test caused by a 3,600g steel ball dropped from a height of 1,520 millimeters. At the moment of impact, there should be no contact between the shell and the suspension, and there should be no fractures in the shell’s structure.

The force transmitted by the helmet must not exceed 454 kgf.





Penetration Resistance Test

The helmet must pass the penetration test, which is conducted by dropping a 454-gram steel-tipped projectile in free fall from a height of 3,050 millimeters.

The depth of penetration of the projectile must not exceed 10 mm, including the helmet’s thickness. Furthermore, our helmets do not require any type of perforation, as their excellent design ensures perfect ventilation by allowing air circulation throughout the helmet’s perimeter.






Dielectric Strength / Perforation Test

The helmet is subjected to a voltage of 20,000 V for 3 minutes, and once this duration is completed, the voltage is increased to 30,000 V. The helmet must not exhibit any cracks or perforations in the shell.

Combustion Resistance Test

Once the force transmission and dielectric strength tests are completed, the helmet is directly exposed to a flame ranging from 800 to 900 °C for 5 seconds.

According to the standards, the helmet must not ignite or perforate. This test also demonstrates that the helmets are self-extinguishing.

Class G voltage 2200 volts one minute, Class C does not apply because it is metallic
